Teaching Experience

2019

Graduate Teaching Assistant - Genetics – GENE 3200, University of Georgia

Under direction of Dr. Michael McEachern, I led three discussion sections a week regarding topics in introductory genetics and graded exams (class of ~200 students)

  

2014-16

Graduate Teaching Assistant - Principles of Biology II Laboratory, Georgia State University

Under the mentorship of Drs. Stephanie Gutzler and Matthew Brewer

Regular duties:

  • Prepared teaching materials and lectures focused on learning the scientific method, experimental design, data analysis, and lab report writing skills

  • Supervised two sections per semester (max. 24 undergrads per section), consisting of teams (4 students each) performing experiments

  • Created and delivered exams and assessments

  • Trained fellow TAs in using the D2L/ Brightspace learning management system

 

2016

Grant Development Assistantship - Principles of Biology II Laboratory, GSU

I developed climate change-based modules for future course curriculum. These modules provided a framework for NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) grant proposal.

 

2015

Honors Graduate Teaching Assistant - Principles of Biology II Laboratory, GSU

I independently developed and taught a lab section for honors program students for one semester, covering developmental biology, genetics, and evolution. I designed and supervised experiments that used sea urchins to examine fertilization, planarians to test regeneration, Drosophila to observe natural selection, and C. elegans to determine the inheritance patterns of mutant traits.
